Stephen Ministries

Christ caring for people through people

What is a Stephen Minister?

Stephen Ministers are members from our congregation family who possess compassion and a desire to care for people who are experiencing hurt in whatever form it takes. These caring individuals receive training at Trinity to provide one-to-one Christian care for people experiencing difficulties such as:

  • Loss of a loved one
  • Unemployment or a job crisis
  • Hospitalization
  • Divorce or separation
  • Spiritual crisis
  • Chronic illness
  • Relocation
  • Empty nest
  • Leaving home for college/career
  • Incarceration
  • Aging
  • Birth, adoption, miscarriage, or infertility
  • Many other life challenges

What can you expect from your Stephen Minister?

When you recognize your particular life struggle, you will receive from your Stephen Minister a compassionate friend. Someone who will provide a trusting environment, willing to listen and pray with you. Someone who meets faithfully with you once a week and understands the need for confidentiality. Someone who is being used by Jesus to provide care.

What can you expect from serving as a Stephen Minister?

Ephesians 2:10 tells us we are created to do good works. 1 Peter 4:10-11 tells us we are gifted to serve others and bring glory to Christ in doing so.

Stephen Ministry training will equip you on how to communicate and help people who are suffering. You’ll gain an understanding of what to say that is helpful and how to avoid saying things that are not helpful.

Stephen Ministry at Trinity is led by Pastor Dennis Kootz, pastordennis.kootz@gmail.com, (785) 823-7151.
